In my web design, I want to start with explaining the purpose/main idea of the website, which is to promote the participatory collective and what they do/are trying to achieve. To explain this, I want to include a video near the top of the design so that the user will be able to see instantly what the participatory collectives’ purpose is and how they (the user) can help. I also want to include a hover function so that when the user hovers over an image/text, they will reveal text/information about how they can help.
The emotion that I want to convey through my design is hope and joy as the mission of the participatory collective for everyone to come together to allow people to live fulfilling and flourishing lives. To achieve that feeling of hope and joy, I am going to use a colour scheme that represents those feelings and layout my design in a way where the user can easily navigate what they are looking for and alternate lighter and darker shades of my colour scheme to make my design stand out and have a happy feeling to it.
The problem that the participatory collective are having is that they have to get their funding from other people/organisations, which isn’t ideal for what they want to achieve. Also the funding organisation decides on what the project will be and they won’t have very much time to make this decision as the funding is normally rushed.
The participatory collective wants to build solidarity I a movement that will decide and do things differently. They want to work towards shifting power, changing systems and cultures the don’t meet their needs. Their plan is to build a virtual space for people to come together to enable communities to flourish and grow together. They want their PC to be open for groups, individuals and organisations so that they can gain support and learn from others so that they can engage and involve people in collaboration.
While conveying this into my website design, the user will be able to click on buttons that will show animations and be able to hover over images that will reveal text. I want to include this into my design so that the user can engage in helping the participatory collective.
